What's Santiago like?
I always lived in
Santiago therefore i think to know how the city works.
In my opinion, Santiago is a poorly organized city because we have a serious connection problem. That is, people who lives in the city can´t move correctly with the current conditions of means of transport, for the poor quality of the machines (buses and subway) and the bad distribution of the roads. For example, someone who lives in Colina has a difficult access to public transport, buses and subway don’t exist in this place. in parallel, someone who lives in Puente alto (far from main street) must wait for a bus more than 20 minutes and it is probably broken, collapsed or without the minimum security means, adding the bad treatment of the stressed drivers and mad users.
The non-main streets are usually left aside in the urban planning and many times we can see some broken or little spacious. The worst in this situation is the difference between the communes, the communal limits are like barriers that segregate people from different social classes. The quality of streets and public spaces depend of the municipality funds. In conclusion, Santiago needs more intercommunal cohesion and spatial justice.
